Sarah Grear grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. After high school, she moved to Costa Mesa, CA for college. She turned down a full scholarship at UNLV to live in a community that embraced the arts.
After spending two years at Orange Coast College, she then transferred to Cal State University Fullerton.
In May 2005, Sarah graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts emphasizing in ceramics.
Sarah has shown her work on campus in six shows at Cal State. Since December 2004, she has been showing her work off campus at The Camp in Costa Mesa. She has also gone to Indianapolis, Baltimore, and Los Angeles to give lectures and workshops on pit firing.
After graduating in May, she decided to return to her roots and have her first professional exhibition in Las Vegas. She will be showing her newest body of work, and some commercial work that she produces on commission. The newest body of her work has become very focused on the human body, and she plans to continue with this. She is obviously well acquainted with what it is like to be a female in America’s society, so her work has leaned toward that experience.
